Gillean Dean Nordal

CCO

What gives Gillean Dean Nordal job satisfaction is understanding how things work. Seeing the big picture, finding the common thread, and going into depth where it's needed. That is how she works.

With a law degree from the University of Glasgow and ACA certification from the ICAEW, she brings something rare to the table: she speaks every language in the room. The lawyer's, the auditor's, the banker's and the technologist's. The method she was trained in is built on exactly this: understand the business first, with risk management, strategy and profitability as the methodical foundation. At Deloitte, where she spent more than a decade, she gained broad practical experience. She ran courses and gave talks, led international teams and was given responsibility for major engagements early on. At Norges Bank, she learned precision: an environment where mistakes are not an option.

As Chief Compliance Officer, she safeguards something X-Receipts cannot grow without: the confidence of banks, investors and users that data is handled correctly. In a market where access to payment infrastructure depends on trust, she is the one who makes that trust verifiable. But the role is more than advisory. She is responsible for making sure the entire value chain works, and owns the outcome from end to end. "I like creating things. Seeing it become a complete product," she says.

She joined X-Receipts after co-founding a health food start-up in Oslo. As a founder, she got a taste for building solutions from the ground up, and decided to keep doing it.

She likes to spend her free time with family and friends, doing HYROX and playing tennis, and in Scotland as often as possible.
